The band JUNKMALE hails from Summerside, P.E.I. . Their set list is full of high energy dance/party oriented rock music primarily from the 80’s and some from 70’s, but the band does throw in the occasional current radio hit. Some of the artists covered are Pat Benatar, Cindy Lauper, Blondie, Cheap Trick, John Cougar, AC/DC, ABBA, Loverboy, Joan Jett, and even Led Zeppelin just to name a few. The band’s lead vocalist (Karen Penton) gives the band a unique sound compared to most bar bands that normally center around male vocalists only. All members of the band perform vocal duties, which brings more diversity to the band enabling them to cover a wide range of artists. The remaining members of the band each bring nearly 20 years of live playing experience to the band. The other members are Mike Penton (lead guitar/vocals. Previously played with the band Cameltoe), Ron Penton (bass/vocals. Previously played with Unleash The Dogz) and Dennis Gallant (drums/vocals. Previously played with bands Shortcut and Kickstart). The band currently plays at the Heritage Pub in Summerside and other venues across the island.
